Volcano

An image from NASA's Earth Observing-1 satellite shows the southern end of Onekotan Island, Russia, site of a catastrophic volcanic eruption more than 9,000 years ago. The blast created a huge caldera that today is filled by the deep blue waters of Kaltsevoe Lake.
